With the start of a new production plant, Dresden- (Germany) based Heliatek GmbH has taken the first step from pilot to series production. The company, which was founded in 2006 as a spin-off of the universities of Dresden and Ulm, plans to further expand and ramp up the plant by mid-2020 in order to start series production and supply the first »strategic customers«.
Heliatek produces films with organic solar cells in a roll-to-roll process. The Dresden factory is to achieve an annual capacity of one million square meters of solar films, with an efficiency of ten percent being targeted. Solar films with a total output of 100 megawatts could then be produced.
