Hanwha forms project company for Europe

Korean Hanwha Group, active in the photovoltaic sector primarily with Hanwha Q Cells Co. Ltd, has restructured its activities in the European project business. Under the umbrella of the group subsidiary Hanwha Solutions, Q Energy Solutions SE was formed, which in turn acts as a holding company for Q Energy Europe GmbH and Q Energy France SAS.
Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, Q Energy is starting with about 300 employees and a development portfolio of twelve gigawatts (GW) of projects, including 9.25 GW of solar, 2.25 GW of wind and 0.5 GW of storage power projects, according to a statement. The projects are spread across France (5 GW), Spain (around 4 GW), Portugal (2 GW) and Germany (1 GW).
Q Energy France was already formed in March of this year, while its sister company Q Energy Europe GmbH was formed from the »Green Energy Solutions« business unit of Hanwha Q Cells GmbH. The former Q-Cells SE, which was taken over by Hanwha after its insolvency in 2012, was already active in the project business (in the picture a 54 MW project in Strasskirchen, Germany from 2010). Q Energy France in turn emerged from the acquisition of RES France (formerly part of RES Group) by Hanwha Solutions last October.
