Hanergy Solar increases turnover and profits in 2013

Hanergy Solar aims to become the global leader in CIGS thin-film technologies.

Chinese solar company Hanergy Solar Group Ltd. registered a net profit of net profit of 2,069,010,000 HKD ($266.7 million) in 2013, a 57% increase from 1,316,182,000 HKD ($169.6 million) in the prior year. The company said that the net result increase was primarily due to »an increase in delivery of turnkey lines and thus an increase in revenue.« The company was also able to increase profit before tax from 1,666,158,000 HKD in 2012 to 2,328,299,000 HKD last year. Revenue for 2013 amount to 3,274,425,000 HKD, up 19% from 2,756,463,000 HKD in 2012.
Hanergy Solar acquired US-based CIGS producer MiaSolé and Sweden-based thin-film solar technology company Solibro from its holding company, Hanergy Holdings Group, in September 2013. Hanergy Holdings had acquired MiaSolé in January 2013 and Solibro in late 2012. Hanergy Solar said that with these acquisitions, it aims to become the global leader in CIGS thin-film technologies. In January, the company said it intends to install 600 MW of CIGS module production capacity in China this year. Half of the new capacity will be based on technology developed by MiaSolé, and half will be based on Solibro tech.
