Goldbeck Solar and Fraunhofer ITWM develop planning tool

German EPC company Goldbeck Solar has developed a planning software together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM, which it will present at this year’s Intersolar. The »SolarPlanner« is to be made available exclusively to Goldbeck customers, enabling them to carry out both technical and economic planning with just one piece of software.
According to the company, the SolarPlanner was tested »on many real solar plants« during the development period. According to parameters defined by each customer, the software simulates »not one, but hundreds of different design options for a given site«, and automatically generates CAD files with plans for the layout of a solar farm, wiring dimensions and cable routes. Based on the prices for the required components, it calculates an EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) price for the complete project, as well as revenue over 25 years of operation based on electricity price curves.
