Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche (CDU) wants to abolish feed-in tariffs for private photovoltaic systems in Germany. She said this in an interview with the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper, which was published on Sunday. »New, small PV systems are already profitable on the market today and do not require subsidies,« said Reiche. She assured existing systems that they would be grandfathered in.
Reiche also reiterated her announcement that operators of onshore wind and solar power systems should contribute more to the costs of grid expansion in the future. She also demanded that the systems feed their electricity into the grid in an intelligent manner. To this end, PV systems should be connected to electricity storage facilities and be controllable, participate in the market, and market their electricity. She no longer considers it appropriate for operators to build their plants without regard for the power grid. »All of this makes our power system unnecessarily more expensive. I want to change that,« she explained.
Reiche also wants to abolish the feed-in tariff, which is paid when plants have to be curtailed to protect against grid overload.
