Germany's EEG levy surplus increased to €5 billion in January

The German EEG levy account, which funds Germany’s renewable energy programs, had a cumulative surplus of €5.08 billion ($5.74 billion) at the end of January. This is an increase of around €545 million compared to December.
In January alone, revenue generated by the levy totaled €2.24 billion. Payments for operators of renewable-energy-power plants and other expenditure totaled about €1.69 billion.
