Germany's EEG levy surplus increased to €4.5 billion in December

The German EEG levy account, which funds Germany’s renewable energy programs, had a cumulative surplus of €4.5 billion ($5.1 billion) at the end of December. This is an increase of around €634 million compared to November. In December alone, revenue generated by the levy totaled €2.18 billion. Payments for operators of renewable-energy-power plants and other expenditure totaled about €1.54 billion.
