Germany registers 218 MW of new PV capacity in November

Only 28 PV systems registered in Germany in November have a capacity over 1 MW.

Germany registered approximately 9,000 new PV systems with a combined capacity of 218.7 MW in November 2013, according to new figures from the German Federal Network Agency. This is down from 225.9 MW in October, 290.8 MW in September and 292 MW in August. Of these new PV systems, only 28 have a capacity between 1 and 10 MW, while 203 systems have a capacity between 100 kW and 1 MW. In the first 11 months of 2013, Germany added 3.14 GW of PV power, substantially less that it did in the same period of 2012, when it added 7.27 GW. If the monthly average growth rate remains the same in December, Germany could reach a newly installed PV capacity of 3.4 GW this year. The German government targeted between 2.5 and 3.5 GW of new PV capacity in 2013. According to the German Federal Network Agency, Germany’s cumulative installed PV capacity topped 35.4 GW at the end of November.
