The municipality of Aldenhoven has announced the continuation of two major energy projects in its municipal area. One is a large open-space facility on the outskirts of the village of Freialdenhoven, and the other is a battery storage facility with a capacity of one gigawatt in Alsdorf-Siersdorf. Both projects are being planned by Kronos Solar Projects GmbH from Munich. The timeline for the joint project has been finalized and adapted to the current conditions, according to a Facebook post by the municipality of Aldenhoven. According to the municipality, the preparatory steps for the €600 million project will be »intensified« in the coming months.

As reported by the Aachener Zeitung newspaper, Kronos Solar had meanwhile applied to increase the area designated for the project in the development plan. However, the application was rejected by the building administration committee because the municipality feared a conflict with the planned route of the Euregio railway. Now the original plan is to go ahead.

Kronos Solar Director Andreas Pfeifer and Mayor Ralf Claßen expressed confidence that the company and the municipality will successfully implement these two energy projects together.
