German companies Solarwatt, Tibber and Kiwigrid have formed the Energy Systems Alliance (ESA). According to the companies, the aim of this strategic partnership is to provide installers with »holistic, intelligently networked, optimally coordinated and certified energy systems«. To this end, the ESA is developing a range of products and services for installers, including training and qualifications for hardware and electricity products, as well as technical and sales support.
This offering is intended to help small installation companies compete with large, full-service providers such as Enpal and 1Komma5°, who sell standardised systems, including energy market connectivity, from a single source. However, ESA says that these systems are mostly closed and difficult to expand. »In order to remain competitive, traditional craft businesses also need access to open, versatile, compatible complete solutions that combine modern hardware and intelligent electricity services. ESA creates the basis for installation companies to offer such systems and thus secure their long-term competitiveness,« the announcement states.
Within the framework of ESA, Solarwatt, Kiwigrid and Tibber are contributing their respective customer bases and pooling their core competencies. Solarwatt has many years of experience in the photovoltaic battery sector, while Kiwigrid has technical expertise in energy systems and management. Tibber completes the partnership by contributing its expertise in dynamic electricity tariffs in Germany, as well as its experience as a cloud EMS provider and flexibility marketer.
»We enable installers to install an open, highly secure industrial energy management system that is easy to use and geared towards the needs of end customers. It is compatible with dynamic electricity tariffs and Section 14a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG), and is transparent, open and future-proof. This gives installation companies not only technological planning security, but also a future-proof business model that offers their customers real added value,« says Lars Schwarzelt, Kiwigrid’s Managing Director.
There are plans to expand the concept to other European markets in the future. An expansion of the alliance to include other companies is also being considered.
