German Bundestag decides to implement EU Emergency Ordinance
Post date: 03/03/2023 - 13:36
The Committee for Housing, Urban Development, Construction and Communities of the German Bundestag voted on Wednesday (March 1) in a special session in favor of an amendment to the Regional Planning Act and other Regulations and the implementation of the EU Emergency Ordinance. Today (March 1), the Bundestag will vote, and approval is considered certain. The law regulates the implementation of the EU regulation adopted on December 22.
Among other things, the regulation stipulates that in approval procedures for renewable energy plants and for the expansion of the electricity grids, an environmental impact assessment and a species protection assessment can be waived under certain conditions. The prerequisite is that they are erected in areas previously designated for this purpose. The regulation and the implementing rules will apply until June 30, 2024, i.e. for all approval procedures commenced before this date.
