Frankfurt UAS shows three-dimensional construction elements with organic solar cells

Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) is presenting a prototype of the lightweight construction system for organic solar cells developed in the »Sun Skins« research project at the BAU construction trade fair, which is taking place in Munich, Germany until April 22. The system consists of organic photovoltaic elements integrated between two thin thermoplastically formed films made of polycarbonate. This composite component can be varied in shape, colour and degree of transparency with the aid of a specially developed digital design tool and thus be adapted to different installation situations.
The project will run until July 2023 and is funded by the German Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) at the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR).
