»Francisco Pizarro« solar power plant to supply PepsiCo sites in Spain and Portugal

Spanish energy company Iberdrola and U.S. beverage and food company PepsiCo Inc. have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply 100% solar power to all PepsiCo sites in Spain and Portugal. This covers four production and two logistics centers, as well as five distribution and administrative sites. A statement from Iberdrola does not specify the duration of the »long-term« contract, which will be effective from January 2023, or the expected supply volume.
The contracted electricity volumes will be generated at the »Francisco Pizarro« solar power plant. The plant, located in the Extremadura region of Spain between the municipalities of Torrecillas de la Tiesa and Aldeacentenera, is expected to »soon« become operational and is then expected to be the largest of its kind in Europe with 590 megawatts of installed capacity.
