France will auction 2,150 MW of solar PV capacity in 2020

The French government has announced that it will organize three solar auctions in 2020 totalling 2,150 MW of capacity. According to French consultancy Enerdata, two ground-mounted tenders, planned in January and June 2020, will offer 850 MW and 1 GW of capacity respectively, whereas a smaller rooftop-focused auction in February 2020 will offer up 300 MW. The three new tenders will allow France to boost its installed solar capacity by 20 percent, from the current 9.1 GW.
In early August 2019, France allocated 858 MW of solar PV capacity in its sixth auction round for ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects.
