The Ministry of Energy, Ecology and Sustainable Development (Ministère de la Transition Écologique et Solidaire) has awarded 268 PV projects with a total capacity of 129.4 MW in the latest tender for the development of solar power systems for buildings. The selected plants with an output of 100 to 500 kilowatts will receive an average of €97.48 ($107.60) per megawatt-hour; for plants between 500 kilowatts and 8 megawatts, the purchase price will be €86.54 ($95.53).
In addition, 20 projects with a total output of 576 MW were awarded a contract in the fourth tender for onshore wind energy; the average price is €66.50 ($73.40) per megawatt-hour over a period of 20 years.
France's energy policy targets stipulate that the share of renewable energies in electricity generation should rise from 20 percent at the end of 2018 to 40 percent by 2030. In particular, photovoltaic and onshore wind power plants are to be built for this purpose.
