First Solar contracts 2 gigawatt supply volume with National Grid Renewables

Renewable energy project developer and operator National Grid Renewables and U.S. cadmium telluride thin-film module manufacturer First Solar Inc. have agreed upon the supply of solar modules with two gigawatts of total capacity in 2024 and 2025. The framework agreement, which has now been announced, »was booked prior to the release of First Solar’s Q1 2022 earnings in April«.
The two companies have already collaborated on several large-scale projects, such as the recently commissioned 200-megawatt Prairie Wolf power plant and the 275-megawatt PV / 125-megawatt storage power plant Noble Solar currently under construction. National Grid Renewables, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a subsidiary of National Grid plc, the British electricity and gas grid operator active in the UK and the USA.
