First Solar Inc., US manufacturer of cadmium telluride thin film modules, completed the previously announced sale of a utility-scale solar project platform of approximately 10 GW (ac) to Leeward Renewable Energy, LLC. As part of Leeward’s acquisition of the US project platform, more than 50 members of the First Solar project development team have joined Leeward. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Leeward is a portfolio company of Omers Infrastructure, an investment arm of Omers, with CAD 109 billion one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension plans.
As reported, the US project platform includes the Rabbitbrush, Madison, Oak Trail, Horizon, and Ridgely projects that are expected to commence construction in the next two years, as well as the 30 MW Barilla Solar project, which is operational.
