First Solar books major orders totaling nearly 600 megawatts

U.S. manufacturer of cadmium telluride thin-film modules First Solar Inc. reports two large orders within a short time. Solar project developer Solarvest Berhad from Malaysia ordered a total capacity of 93 megawatts of »Series 6« modules for four planned solar power plants. Deliveries are scheduled to take place from August to November this year. About 75 megawatts of the total capacity will be delivered from First Solar’s plant in Malaysia, the company said Thursday (July 21).
Just days later, on July 25, First Solar reported an agreement for 500 megawatts total with French renewable energy company Akuo. Of that amount, 200 megawatts is to be used for a solar power project in the U.S. and delivered in the first half of 2024. The remaining volume is earmarked for 2025 to 2026.
