A photovoltaic system is to be installed on the roof of the Feldherrnhalle in Munich, a listed building, as part of an extensive refurbishment programme. This was announced by the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Home Affairs. The project is being managed by the State Building Authority Munich 1.
‘The Feldherrnhalle is a defining feature of Munich’s cityscape between the Residenz, Hofgarten and Theatinerkirche. After 60 years since the last major renovation, the Free State of Bavaria is now investing up to 12.15 million euros in the refurbishment and restoration of the Feldherrnhalle. Following the intensive planning phase, construction work is now starting. Construction is expected to take around three years, after which the monument will once again shine in new splendour,’ explained Bavaria’s Minister of Finance and Regional Identity Albert Füracker at the kick-off for the start of construction on Wednesday (12 March) together with Minister of Construction Christian Bernreiter in Munich.
