The European Commission announced yesterday (March 20) the launch of three new European Partnerships in the fields of advanced materials, textiles and photovoltaics as part of the Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2025-2027. European Partnerships are collaborations between the European Commission, EU Member States, the private sector and other stakeholders.
The European Photovoltaic Innovation Partnership aims to strengthen Europe’s position in the global photovoltaic industry and support the transition to renewable energy, in particular solar energy, according to the Commission’s communication. Referring to the European Green Deal, the REPowerEU plan and the Renewable Energy Directive 2023, the initiative aims to increase European PV production capacity, develop a more resilient value chain in the EU and reduce dependence on fossil fuels through cooperation along the entire PV value chain. According to the communication, the Commission and the private partners plan to invest up to €240 million each in the partnership between 2025 and 2030.
The first funding opportunities under these new partnerships will be part of the Horizon Europe 2025 work program.
