Eon solar park makes Bavarian municipality »balance sheet energy neutral«

German energy company Eon has commissioned the 10.6 MW solar park in Hepberg in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt. Construction began at the end of last year.
The annual yield is forecast at eleven million kWh. According to First Mayor Raimund Lindner, this will make the municipality »energy-neutral in terms of electricity.« The community will also share in the financial returns from the solar power plant.
The plant’s output will be transported via an approximately six-kilometer-long underground cable to a transfer station, where it will be fed into the grid of the local utility Bayernwerk – an Eon subsidiary.
