French independent power producer Neoen and French energy group Engie SA plan to jointly develop the »Horizeo« project. According to the companies, they aim to build a solar park with an installed capacity of 1 GW on an area of about 1,000 hectares. The plants will combine agriculture and solar power generation. The concept includes electricity storage, an electrolyzer to produce green hydrogen, and the development of a data center powered directly by solar electricity. Completion is targeted for 2026. The yield would be marketed directly without government subsidies and would cover the annual consumption of more than 600,000 people.
The »Horizeo« project will be located at Saucats, a French commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The region aims to increase the 2 GW solar power capacity installed to 8.5 GW by 2030.
