Enel Green Power completes PV plants totaling 136 MW in Chile

Italian renewable energy company Enel Green Power SpA (EGP), part of the Enel group, announced it has completed three PV projects with a combined capacity of 136 MW in northern Chile. Two of the projects, the Lalackama and Chañares solar plants, are located in northern Chile’s Atacama Desert and have a capacity of 60 MW and 40 MW, respectively. The two plants had an aggregate required investment of $180 million and rely on modules from Chinese manufacturer JinkoSolar Holding Co. Ltd.
EGP has also completed the final 4 MW phase of the 36 MW Diego de Almagro solar project. The plant is separated into two solar fields and is located in the municipality of Diego de Almagro, in the Atacama region. The plant relies on 225,000 thin-film modules manufactured at EGP's own factory in Catania, Sicily. Italian inverter manufacturer Siel SpA provided the inverters for the third project. EGP has already signed power supply contracts to sell the electricity output of the three plants on the regulated market.
