Encavis to build 200 MW PV plant in Spain and signed PPA with Amazon

The Hamburg, Germany-based solar and wind power plant operator Encavis AG signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Amazon. A 200 MW photovoltaic power plant to be built in Cabrera near Seville in southern Spain will supply over the 10-year contract period around 3,000 GWh. The plant is scheduled to be connected to the grid at the end of the third quarter of 2020. A further 1,000 GWh from the Cabrera solar park will be sold on the wholesale market. The investment volume amounts to around €158 million ($175 million). The project developer Solarcentury is participating in the investments with up to 20 percent.
In September Encavis had signed a PPA with an unnamed »internationally leading energy company«. The non-subsidized solar park with an installed capacity of 300 MW will be built near the Spanish city of Talayuela. The total amount of electricity agreed over the term of the contract is 4,300 GWh, with an investment volume of €225 million ($249 million). Solarcentury is also participating in the investment with 20 percent. The grid connection is planned for the end of the third quarter of 2020 as well.
Within a few weeks, »another milestone« had been reached, said Dierk Paskert, CEO of Encavis AG. »Both projects with a capacity of 500 MW on the scale of a modern gas-fired power plant represent Encavis' future in the subsidy-free marketing of green electricity.«
