E&M identifies Next Kraftwerke as Germany’s largest solar power direct marketer

In this year’s edition of its industry survey on the direct marketing of electricity from renewable energies and natural gas-based cogeneration in Germany, the trade magazine »Energie & Management« (E&M) has identified Next Kraftwerke GmbH as the country’s largest direct marketer of solar power. According to the survey, which has been conducted since 2013, the company is marketing a PV portfolio with 5.65 gigawatts (GW) of total capacity. Direct marketing is mandatory in Germany for renewable energy plants of 100 kilowatts or more and is also used for various other generation facilities.
According to E&M, the largest direct marketer of wind power is Berlin-based Statkraft Markets GmbH, a subsidiary of Norwegian Statkraft Group, with 8.5 GW, while Leipzig-based Energy2Market GmbH leads the field for electricity from biomass with 1.91 GW. Germany's largest direct marketer overall is the energy group EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG with 10.71 GW, putting it in the lead for the first time and relegating long-time market leader Statkraft (9.2 GW) to second place.
