EDF and SENA sign PPA for another segment of »Palen Solar« project

EDF Renewables North America, a subsidiary of French energy group EDF, and Shell Energy North America (US), L.P. (SENA) announced the signing of a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) related to a 132 MW tranche of the »Palen Solar« site known as »Maverick 7« solar project. The project expects to deliver clean electricity by the end of 2021.
This agreement builds on the previously announced PPA between SENA and EDF Renewables for another tranche of the project. In November 2018, the companies signed a 15-year PPA for the energy and renewable attributes related to a 132 MW tranche of the »Palen Solar« project known as »Maverick 4«.
The 500 MW »Palen Solar« project is located in Riverside County, California on 3,140 acres of federal lands within a Solar Energy Zone (SEZ) and Development Focus Area, managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The BLM completed the federal permitting process, issuing the project a Record of Decision (ROD) in October 2018. At that time, the agency announced that the facility will result in a private infrastructure investment of $1 billion, with $67.3 million in annual indirect economic benefit during construction.
