Dutch storage provider iwell expands to Germany

iwell B.V. from Utrecht in the Netherlands, which specializes in battery storage systems and energy management in combination with photovoltaic systems, particularly for commercial customers, is opening a location in Düsseldorf, Germany. According to the company, it has so far implemented projects for »over 250 Dutch companies« and installed a total storage capacity of 70 megawatt hours (MWh). The expansion into Germany is »the first step of many« to open up the European market. The company is taking part in Europe-wide tenders and is »examining expansions and projects in several countries.« Its target is a volume of 500 MWh in five years.
As its first project in Germany, a storage solution provided by iwell is part of the energy concept for the new distribution center of Levi Strauss & Co. in Dorsten. Dutch company Delta Development began construction of the »Positive Footprint Warehouse« for the textile group in January 2022, while Dutch solar project developer Sunrock took over the installation of a 3.45 megawatt photovoltaic system, which was completed last September. A battery storage system with a capacity of 1 MWh is to be added from next January.
