Duke Energy inaugurated 25 MW »Shoreham« solar project in the state of New York, USA

US utility Duke Energy Renewables inaugurated the »Shoreham Solar Commons« project, a 24.9 MW facility near Brookhaven, New York. The plant is located about 60 miles east of Manhattan. It was placed into service July 1, and the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) is purchasing the power under a 20-year agreement. According to Rob Caldwell, president, Duke Energy Renewables and Distributed Energy Technology, it is the company’s first renewables project in the state of New York.
Duke Energy Renewables acquired »Shoreham« from Invenergy, who constructed the project on the site of the former Tallgrass Golf Course.
