DNV to cooperate with Korean FPV providers

Norwegian quality assurance and risk management company DNV has agreed a memorandum of understanding with five Korean companies whose portfolios include floating photovoltaics (FPV) »with the aim of increasing the number of FPV plants in Korea and globally.« DNV’s partners are steel producer POSCO, power and automation solutions provider LS Electric, floating PV, marina and offshore structures provider SCOTRA, module manufacturer SolarPark and substructure manufacturer for conventional and floating PV systems DASCO.
According to DNV, the contractors intend to »exchange technical and proprietary information and know-how« on the development of systems, identify potential projects and markets, and collaborate on joint marketing initiatives. Explicit mention is also made of testing FPV systems »in saline environments.«
DNV expects total globally installed capacity in FPV systems to reach ten to 30 gigawatts by 2030. South Korea alone is pursuing plans to install 2.1 gigawatts by then.
