Solarnative GmbH, founded in 2019 and based in Kriftel near Frankfurt am Main, is looking for a major investor or buyer in the short term. According to a press release, the aim is to find a financial backer before the end of the current Intersolar trade fair, where Solarnative will be represented at stand B4.370.
According to Solarnative, the planned equity measures amounting to around EUR 1.6 million have not yet been realized to the desired extent. In addition, the market and competitive situation has recently become much tougher, particularly in the balcony power plant segment. Solarnative had high hopes for this segment in particular with its micro inverter. In Hofheim near Frankfurt, there is a warehouse with several thousand pre-produced inverters and a fully functional factory with a production capacity of 50,000 micro inverters per month. An inverter for the rooftop segment is under development, but not yet ready for series production.
As the company’s sales and turnover figures in the second quarter of 2024 fell well short of expectations, Solarnative has already cut back production and laid off 35 of its 130 employees.
“We have reached a point where we need a new major investor or buyer to actually bring the world’s smallest PV inverter to the rooftop market,” summarizes Julian Mattheis, Managing Director of Solarnative GmbH. High-tech patents, a functioning factory, US approval: “Everything is in place – Solarnative is presenting itself on a silver platter”.
