Construction begins on 487 MW power plant in Colombia

Enel Green Power, a renewable energy project developer belonging to Italian energy group Enel, has begun construction of the largest solar power plant in Colombia. The »Guayepo I&II« project, located on a 1,110-hectare site in the municipalities of Ponedera and Sabanalarga in the department of Atlántico, is planned to have 486.7 megawatts of power from 820,600 solar modules. Enel Green Power puts the investment at »more than $290 million«, or about $596 per kilowatt of installed capacity. The company estimates the yield at 1.03 terawatt hours annually, or 2,116 kilowatt hours per kilowatt.
