Commerz Real acquires 50-megawatt agri-PV project near Berlin

Asset manager Commerz Real, part of Commerzbank Group, has acquired the project for a 50-megawatt photovoltaic power plant with simultaneous agricultural use (Agri-PV) for an undisclosed amount. The seller and cooperation partner for the further development is Elysium Solar, a joint venture of Zurich-based consulting firms EIC Partners and Berlin-based consulting firm LBD. By integrating the project into its »Klimavest« fund, Commerz Real is »making a large-scale agrivoltaic project in Germany accessible to private investors for the first time ever.«
The plant »near Berlin« is scheduled to go into operation in 2025. The plan is to have single-axis tracking module rows, basically a conventional ground-mounted solar power plant, but with extended row spacing. This concept, which is becoming increasingly widespread in the field of large-scale agri-PV projects, allows cultivation even with large machines without additional design effort. The cooperation with Elysium Solar is to be expanded and »at least two further agrivoltaic parks of a similar size« are to be developed for Commerz Real.
