CEA finds more microcracks in module testing

In its latest report »Solar PV Module Quality Risks«, Clean Energy Associates (CEA), a solar and battery industry consultancy based in Denver, Colorado, and Shanghai, reports on module defects found during inspections of solar parks. A total of 300,000 modules in 150 installations were inspected over eight years. CEA describes the sharp increase in microcracks as the »most surprising finding«. In the first half of this year, this cell defect was detected 47 percent more often than before. Recently, microcracks were found in around 60 percent of the modules tested. Modules with half cells are particularly affected.
