Chinese-Canadian solar group Canadian Solar Inc. is making its subsidiary Recurrent Energy Inc. the organizational umbrella for global project development and service for solar and battery storage power plants. Recurrent Energy was previously Canadian Solar's subsidiary active in this field in North America.
With the restructuring, the company will become one of the largest of its kind in the world with projects implemented to date on six continents, including nine gigawatts (GW) of total capacity in solar and 3 GW in battery storage power plants. Recurrent Energy cites its portfolio of projects under development as 25 GW for solar and 47 GW for battery storage, of which grid connections have already been secured for 14 and 12 GW, respectively. In addition, the company has taken over operation and maintenance of 6 GW of capacity.
