BSW welcomes planned waiver of system certificates for commercial solar systems in Germany

The German Solar Industry Association (BSW) has welcomed the simplifications planned by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate (BMWK) for grid connection of medium-size PV plants. In recent years, disproportionate certification requirements in particular had severely hampered the expansion of such mostly commercial installations above a capacity of 135 kilowatts (kW).
In its revised »Photovoltaic Strategy« published on May 5, the BMWK announced that the plant certificate should only be required for a feed-in capacity of 270 kW or an installed capacity of 500 kW. The corresponding draft bills have now been finalized, although not yet been agreed within the German government. The BSW now hopes for a quick implementation of the planned changes in the corresponding regulations.
