British solar project developer and independent power producer Ampyr Distributed Energy (ADE) wants to expand its activities in the field of decentralized renewable energy use for commerce and industry (C&I) to Germany. ADE works with a power purchase agreement (PPA) model that enables companies to use renewable energies such as rooftop solar systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS) without upfront investment. According to ADE, it has already signed contracts for 50 MW of renewable energy at around 50 locations in the UK and is now pursuing the goal of continuing this growth internationally.

John Behan, CEO of ADE, commented: »We’re on a mission to harness the power of onsite renewable energy and transform business energy resilience. With some of the highest energy costs in Europe, Germany was an obvious target market for us. It has huge potential for onsite PPAs, supported by ambitious renewable energy policies.«

ADE’s German activities will be led by Nick Koidl, who has been appointed Managing Director for Germany. Koidl was, among other things, founder and managing director of Alternative Investment Partners (AIP). Founded in 2010, the renewable energy consulting firm has structured transactions in this sector with a volume of over one gigawatt worldwide.
