Brazilian Parliament to review proposal for new tax breaks for PV projects
Post date: 07/01/2014
Over the next few weeks, the Brazilian Parliament will discuss a new law that would introduce further tax breaks for PV and wind power projects. The proposed law (5539/13), submitted by the deputy and former governor of the state of Mato Grosso, Júlio Campos, aims to exempt PV and wind project developers from paying the federal VAT (IPI) and the import tax (II) on components used for their generation projects. The proposed law is set to be reviewed by Parliament’s energy and finance committees shortly.
The Brazilian government currently grants grid fee exemptions for PV power plants up to 30 MW.
