Blackstone to invest $3 billion into Invenergy

US investment company Blackstone Inc. and Chicago-based renewable energy company Invenergy Renewables Holdings LLC have entered into a definitive agreement with Canadian Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) for an approximately $3 billion equity investment provided by Blackstone to »accelerate Invenergy’s renewables development activities«. According to a press release issued on Friday, CDPQ and Invenergy management »remain majority owners of the company and Invenergy will continue as managing member.«
Invenergy has, untill today, developped some 175 renewable energy projects with a cumulated capacity of 25 GW in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe, including 49 solar projects with 5.9 GW, 109 wind power projects with 17.2 GW and 18 storage projects with 0.5 GW/1.6 GWh. The company is als engaged in 13 natural gas projects with 6 GW.
