Belectric installs second use battery storage for Audi in Berlin

Belectric Solar & Battery GmbH from Kolitzheim, Germany has set up a battery storage system with a capacity of 1.9 MWh at the »EUREF« campus (European Energy Forum) in Berlin as general contractor for automobile manufacturer Audi. The 5.5-hectare campus serves as an experimental site for sustainable urban development and as a location for companies in the fields of energy, sustainability and mobility. The battery storage is part of the »Mobility2Grid« research project. The 20 batteries used in the storage system have already been used in Audi test vehicles. As part of the »Micro Smart Grid« on the campus, the storage facility will contribute to stabilizing the network and will perform tasks such as intermediate storage, handling peak loads, and reactive power compensation.
