Baywa r.e. establishes PV trading company in Austria and completes largest FPV plant in the country

Renewable energy company Baywa r.e. AG reports the spin-off of a photovoltaic trading company in Austria. Already since the beginning of the year, according to a statement on Thursday (February 23), BayWa r.e. Solar Systems GmbH in Poggersdorf has been operating as an independent company and is thus also responsible for deliveries previously made from the German site in Tübingen. For this purpose, a new warehouse was opened in Spittal an der Drau, from which Slovenia and Croatia are also supplied.
Shortly before, Baywa r.e.’s Austrian subsidiary ECOwind, in cooperation with the energy supplier EVN, completed what they claim is Austria’s largest floating solar power plant. The FPV (floating photovoltaics) plant was installed on two lakes of a former sand and gravel pit in Grafenwörth. With 24.5 megawatts (MW) rather small by international standards, it still is the fourth largest of its kind in Europe after three plants also built by Baywa r.e. in the Netherlands with outputs of between 27.4 and 41.1 MW. Baywa r.e. has now implemented a total of 15 FPV projects with 230 MW of installed capacity.
