BayWa r.e. commissions subsidy-free 21 MW solar park

Munich, Germany-based renewable energy company BayWa r.e. has commissioned a solar park with a capacity of 21 megawatts near the town of Bad Liebenwerda in the Elbe-Elster district of Brandenburg, Germany. According to Baywa, the refinancing is taking place outside the subsidy scheme of the Renewable Energy Law (EEG). BayWa r.e.’s energy trading division will purchase the electricity under a power purchase agreement and market it on the electricity exchange.
For the solar park, BayWa r.e. has collaborated with 30°-SOLAR GmbH, a project development company for solar energy based in Berlin. With this project, BayWa r.e. is making use of the municipal participation option under Section 6 of the EEG, according to which affected municipalities can participate financially in the proceeds of a solar park.
