Battery storage with new »soft switching« technology from Growatt

China’s Growatt New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is expanding its battery storage product line to include the APX-HV series with »soft switching« parallel connection technology. This is said to compensate for energy differences between individual battery packs by allowing each module to be fully charged and discharged independently. It also »offers greater flexibility for installation and expansion with batteries of varied State of Charge (SoC) and from different new batches.«
The APX-HV storage units feature an active battery management system for each cell, a fire protection system integrated into each module, an arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI), and a replaceable fuse for the entire system. Automatic detection ensures that when new batterie packs are added, the software for the entire system is updated to the latest version.
The system is scalable from five to 30 kilowatt-hours and can be expanded to 60 kilowatt-hours in two clusters. It is compatible with Growatt residential and commercial inverters.
