After a project duration of seven months, the Slovenian company NGEN GmbH has commissioned what it claims to be Austria’s largest battery storage facility. The facility in Fürstenfeld in Styria has a capacity of 24 megawatt hours (MWh) with an output of twelve megawatts (MW) and is equipped with six “Megapack 2XL” systems from Tesla. The battery storage system will play a decisive role, particularly at peak times when demand for electricity exceeds supply, and will therefore not only significantly improve grid stability but also security of supply, says NGEN “Fürstenfeld is just the beginning. Our vision is to make a contribution to the energy transition with intelligent battery storage systems throughout the DACH region and beyond,” says Matija Dolinar, Managing Director of NGEN GmbH.
