Australia had 1,161,245 rooftop PV systems, representing 3,096 MW of installed PV capacity, as of Dec. 31, 2013, according to new figures from Australia’s Clean Energy Regulator. The country registered 671.9 MW of new rooftop PV systems in 2013. In December, 1,723 new rooftop PV installations totaling 7.5 MW were registered under the country’s Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme, down sharply from 44.7 MW in November, 61.9 MW in October and 55.9 MW in September. December’s numbers, however, are provisional and will be updated and likely increased in January’s statistics.
The country had around 2.4 GW of cumulative installed rooftop PV power at the end of 2012 and of 1.3 GW at the end of 2011.
