Amtech increased revenue and improved loss

US-based Amtech Systems Inc., which supplies automation systems for the PV, semiconductor and sapphire industries reported results for its third fiscal quarter ending June 30, 2017. Net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2017 was $47.8 million compared to $32.9 million in the preceding quarter and $33.3 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2016. According to the company, »the sequential increase and the increase from the prior year quarter are due primarily to shipments relating to the large turnkey order, as well as increased shipments of our semiconductor equipment.«
Net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2017 was $3.3 million compared to a net loss of $1.4 million in the preceding quarter and a net loss of $1.2 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2016.
At June 30, 2017, total order backlog was $125.7 million (solar $98.2 million), compared to total backlog of $87.4 million (solar $66.9 million) at March 31, 2017. Backlog includes deferred revenue and customer orders that are expected to ship within the next 12 months. The company expects revenues for the quarter ending September 30, 2017 to be in the range of $45 to $48 million.
