AEG Power Solutions supplies converters for battery research project

According to power supply systems provider AEG Power Solutions, the company has received an order to supply a »Convert SC Flex« converter system with transformer to the Belgian power engineering company CMI. The technology will be used in the CMI research project »MiRIS« (Micro Réseau Intégré Seraing).
MiRIS is a pilot plant installed at the CMI headquarters in Seraing, Belgium, consisting of a 2-MW PV plant and battery storage systems with four different technologies, including lithium-ion and sodium-sulphur batteries. The complex was inaugurated last October and will serve as a test facility for various applications such as increasing self-consumption rate, shifting solar power production and feeding excess yields into the grid, providing primary control power and stabilizing grid voltage.
