AE Solar releases its »Eclipse« modules

Black, blacker, Eclipse: The new modules from AE Solar offer a uniform dark appearance

AE Solar GmbH, a module manufacturer based in Königsbrunn near Augsburg, Germany, is launching a new module series on the market. The »AE M6-60« modules are marketed under the product name »Eclipse«. Now »Eclipse« is a popular product name for particularly dark solar modules, already used by Shell Solar, Seraphim and Solarfun, but the »Ecplipse« modules from AE Solar clearly outperform their namesakes in terms of blackness: the modules with 60 monocrystalline cells and outputs between 305 and 335 watts actually resemble a deep black solar eclipse in appearance - if you take the product photo as a benchmark. This is achieved, among other things, by using a black anodized frame, a black back foil and black cell connectors. The target group is homeowners with a sense for visually sophisticated solar systems. However, slight reductions must be made in the yield: The darker a solar module, the more it heats up, and as the operating temperature rises, the output drops - by 0.37 percent per degree Celsius in the case of the Eclipse module from AE Solar.
