4.6 MW battery inverters from SMA now also available in Europe

(c) SMA Solar Technology AG

Following its market launch in Australia, SMA Solar Technology AG is now also offering its new “Sunny Central Storage UP-S” battery inverter in Europe and the USA. The output is up to 4,600 kVA with short-term overload capability for dynamic grid support. Silicon carbide SiC MOSFET semiconductors are used, which ensure a peak efficiency of 99.2 percent (without self-supply); there is no information on European efficiency in the data sheet. Thanks to grid-forming technology, the inverter can provide system services such as the provision of instantaneous reserve and thus contribute to the stability of the power grid.
The devices feature SMA’s OptiCool technology, i.e. they are air-cooled. The operating range extends from minus 25 (optionally minus 40) to plus 60 degrees Celsius.
