According to the organisers, more than 2,000 international solar experts from over 80 countries gathered from 24-28 September at EU PVSEC 2018. Important topics were, among others:
- PERC solar cells and how to advance the technology to the next efficiency level (passivating contacts, heterojunction and back contacts),
- silicon tandem research cells (an InGaP/GaAs/Si 3-junction cell with 28.7 percent efficiency was presented at the conference),
- progress in thin-film technology (a world record commercial CIGS solar module of over 18 percent was presented).
- bifacial solar cells,
- future energy scenarios with up to 100 percent renewables based on solar as the central pillar.
