Hamburg-based 1Komma5° GmbH is expanding its range to include an electricity storage system that allows households without their own photovoltaic system to benefit from low or even negative prices on the electricity exchange. The system, called “PowerHarvester”, is also suitable for tenants.
Philipp Schröder, Managing Director and co-founder of 1Komma5°, says: “At the moment, Germany regularly gives away surplus clean electricity from wind and solar power abroad. We then later buy electricity back at high prices when the sun and wind are not available. This is economic madness. With the PowerHarvester battery, we are now enabling all electricity customers to benefit directly from these quantities of electricity and become part of the permanent solution to this problem. The PowerHarvester, controlled by Heartbeat AI, buys electricity fully automatically whenever the price on the electricity exchange is particularly low and later makes the electricity available to the customer or sells it when the price is particularly high. Based on data from almost 50,000 energy systems, we can reduce electricity costs per kWh by up to 50 percent.”
The PowerHarvester battery is available from EUR 8,900 recommended retail price including installation, the “Heartbeat AI” energy management system and the installation of the required smart meter. Customers pay a monthly software fee of 9.90 for the Energy Trader function and must also take out the Dynamic Pulse electricity tariff from 1Komma5°. For customers with an electricity consumption of more than 10,000 kWh per year, the investment can pay for itself after six years, according to 1Komma5°. This makes the purchase particularly worthwhile for households that already have large consumers such as a heat pump or an electric car connected.
